11. Member Code of Conduct
By becoming a member of MBMC and participating in meetings, events, and programs– I affirm that I have read, understood, and agree to the Code of Conduct outlined herein. Members who violate this code may face consequences up to and including termination of membership without refund.
______________
We are Black women who build, lead, and thrive — together. This Code of Conduct is our shared promise: to show up with integrity, lift each other with intention, and protect the sacred space we create. Our community is rooted in the whole woman — her mind, her body, and her financial stability.
Our Three Pillars
Mental Wellness — We honor emotional safety, authentic expression, and psychological well-being in every interaction.
Physical Health — We respect the body, advocate for healthy practices, and encourage physical balance and restoration.
Financial Power — We build wealth without shame, share knowledge freely, and support each other's financial growth.
Section 1 — Community Values & Culture
MBMC is built on a foundation of “sisterhood, trust, and elevating excellence”. Every member is expected to uphold and actively contribute to a culture that centers the dignity, ambition, and humanity of Black women:
Affirm, don't diminish. Celebrate the wins — big and small — of your fellow members. Compete in the marketplace, not in this community.
Hold space without judgment. What is shared in this space stays in this space. Confidentiality is a non-negotiable pillar of our trust.
Honor intersectionality. Recognize that our community encompasses diverse backgrounds, business stages, beliefs, abilities, and lived experiences. No single story speaks for all of us.
Show up as your full self. Authenticity is welcome. Performing for approval is not required.
Section 2 — Mental & Emotional Well-Being
We acknowledge that entrepreneurship can be mentally taxing, and that Black women often carry disproportionate emotional burdens. This community actively works to alleviate and dismantle that pressure.
Respect emotional bandwidth. Never pressure a member to share more than she is ready to. Active listening is a gift — offer it freely.
Avoid unsolicited advice or "fixing." Ask before advising. Sometimes a woman needs to be heard, not coached.
Discourage “trauma-bonding as a default”. While vulnerability is honored, meetings are not spaces for sustained negative spiraling. We process and we progress.
Rest Is Sacred. We respect each member's need for rest and recovery. No member should ever be shamed for prioritizing her mental health over productivity.
Section 3 — Financial Integrity & Wealth Culture
We are women building financial legacies. Our community is one of the few spaces where Black women can speak openly about money — without shame, comparison, or exploitation.
No predatory solicitation. Members may not use community access to pressure other members into purchases, investments, or financial arrangements. All business interactions must be voluntary and transparent.
Transparency in collaborations. If a business partnership arises from community connections, all terms should be clearly communicated. Members are encouraged to seek independent legal and financial counsel before formalizing agreements.
Wealth without judgment. Members at every financial stage are equally valued– no matter the revenue, assets, or business size.
Generosity of knowledge. Members are encouraged to share high level information, resources, referrals, and financial wisdom freely (without eroding your business offerings as an advisor or consultant). Gatekeeping information is discouraged. Sharing knowledge benefits the community and is a good way to demonstrate your expertise for future/potential clients within the group.
Disclosure of conflicts of interest. If a member has a financial stake in advice she is offering, she must disclose it. Undisclosed conflicts are a violation of community trust.
Anti-scarcity mindset. We reject the belief that another woman's success diminishes our own. Abundance thinking is a community standard.
No Pyramid, MLM, or Exploitative Schemes. Promoting multi-level marketing structures, cryptocurrency schemes, or any investment opportunity that depends on member recruitment is strictly prohibited and grounds for immediate dismissal.
Section 4 — Meetings & Event Conduct
Our meetings and events are purposeful, productive, and protective. Whether in-person or virtual, the following standards apply to all gatherings.
Come and go as you please. We respect your time so we aim to start our meetings and events on time. We encourage punctuality but understand when members need to quietly join late or leave early. Punctuality as respect.** Arrive on time. Chronic tardiness or no-shows without notice signal disregard for your fellow members' time and should be communicated to the organizing team.
Full presence. During meetings, minimize distractions. On virtual calls, cameras on (when able) signal connection, engagement and accountability.
Speaking and listening in equal measure. Every voice deserves floor time. Members who tend to dominate conversations are asked to practice intentional restraint. Quieter voices are actively invited in.
Photography and recording. No recording (audio, video, or otherwise) of meetings or events without explicit permission from organizers and participants. No photos of other members may be shared publicly without their individual consent.
Dress and presentation. Unless a specific dress code is communicated for an event, members may present themselves however they feel authentic and comfortable. No policing of style or appearance.
Section 5 — Zero-Tolerance Behaviors
The following behaviors are incompatible with membership and will result in immediate review, suspension, or removal:
Discrimination, mockery, or derogatory language based on skin tone, age, sexuality, gender identity, religion, body size, disability, socioeconomic background, or national origin
Sexual harassment or unwanted physical contact of any kind
Verbal abuse, intimidation, threats, or bullying — in person or digitally
Sharing confidential member information outside the community
Misrepresenting one's business credentials, qualifications, or affiliations to gain trust or business
Upholding this Code of Conduct is a shared responsibility. All members — including leadership — are equally bound by these standards.
